There is truly an art to customizing and creating a blog you’ll love. Starting a blog can be overwhelming but I’ve navigated my way to making things more seamless with the help of a handful of platforms.
My blog is hosted on WordPress so I have a ton of flexibility when it comes to customization of my blog. The first step to styling your blog or website is to find a theme. Theme’s are the the framework of your site and literally just have to be installed. Once installed all you have to do is change the fonts and arrange things like you want them to be.
The top spots that I normally go to find theme’s for my blog are Etsy and Creative Market. I also do random searches on Pinterest to find more unique blog theme templates. Here are a few of my faves from Creative Market:
Jemma Responsive Blogger Template
The best part about using blog templates is that you can change them as often as you want. I tend to stick with templates for at least 6 months to a year. All templates come with directions so that you can easily upload it to your blog platform.
After choosing your blog theme, the next step to creating a blog you love is to buy or create matching social media graphics. You can also find graphic templates on Etsy and Creative Market. Most sellers will offer website templates and social media graphics. You also have the option to use apps like Canva, Over and Unfold. These are super simple apps that you customize graphics for your brand and blog.
Another way to “Style” your blog is by researching the best plug-ins that will amplify your blog. Some really good plug-ins that have made my blog more seamless are:
ShortPixel Image Optimizer– this plug-in will optimize all the images on your blog while
Shopr– allows you to share affiliate links for your favorite items.
YoastSEO– Search Engine Optimization is very important in the blogging world. This plug-in will help you optimize you blog posts and the content on your blog.
Take your time and don’t allow yourself to get overwhelmed by customizing your blog. Practice makes perfect. If you found this post helpful let me know in the comments!
