What Would Derria Read: Top 5 Self Help Books

March 21, 2018

We all know that life can throw curveballs at us at any point in time without warning. But it’s important to have the tools to bring us out of those down moments that we find ourselves in. I am sharing the Top Five Self Help books that keep me uplifted and optimistic.

Making time to read is important as a young adult. I admit that I am terrible at making the time to read here recently but on my vision board I want to at least read 1-2 books per month. One to two books per month is ideal to keep you on your game and focused on your goals and mind refreshed.

Let’s get into my Top 5 Self Help books:

  1. Seasons Of Life by Jim Rohn- Seasons of Life is one of my favorite books. This book shows the parallels of life and changing seasons. Jim lets us know that its important to plant seeds during the winter in order to see the harvest in the Spring and Summer. I have read this book several times and will continue to use the gems I’ve read and apply them to my life.

2. Outwitting The Devil by Napoleon Hill- This was more of a lengthy read but it definitely put things into perspective for me because in the past it was easy for me to get consumed by the negative things happening in my life. Outwitting The Devil contains insights on how to break free of habits and attitudes that prevent success and will ultimately lead to happiness and prosperity.

3. Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason- This book taps more into the financial realm of life. There is a ton of financial advice given through a collection of stories set in Ancient Babylon, you should read this book for financial wisdom.

4. You are a Badass by Jen Sincero- If you don’t have a tribe that will pump you up this is one of those books that will literally leave you feeling like a bad ass after reading it. So uplifting and inspiring at the same time. Worth reading more than once, I believe its a good kick in the butt if you need it!

5. How to Attract Money by Joseph Murphy- This book is a very quick read, you could probably finish it within an hour or two. When I came across the book I listened to it all online and knew that I needed the book in my collection. Tons of affirmations on how to attract money in your life just by the things you speak into your life. Must read!
